Nora Gimpel, MD
Nora Gimpel, M.D.

Nora Gimpel, M.D., Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine, is the Chief of the Division of Community Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at UT Southwestern. Dr. Gimpel is a family physician originally from Argentina with significant experience teaching evidence-based medicine, working with underserved communities, and performing community-based participatory research. She is a native Spanish language speaker and is very active in addressing minority health issues in underserved communities.

Dr. Gimpel teaches community-based research principles and health promotion and prevention, and is interested in global health. She facilitates the interface between the Community Action Research Track and the community, especially through the Community Service Core and activities related to the Alternative Community Medicine Research Training Experiences.

She attended medical school at Buenos Aires University in Argentina and completed her residency training at Centro de Educación Médica e Investigaciones Clínicas “Norberto Quirno” in Family Practice. Dr. Gimpel held fellowships in epidemiology and public health at the Postgraduate Lister Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland, and completed a Master's Program in Clinical Effectiveness in a joint program with Buenos Aires University, Harvard School of Public Health, and Hospital Italiano Buenos Aires.
