Education & Training

Medical Students

The Division of Community Medicine supports the training of medical students in many ways.

Residents

The Community Action Research Experience (CARE) is a program designed to train family medicine residents in community action research, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to engage their community and care for underserved populations. The residents learn to work with community partners who are committed to better understanding the impact of community and population on health determinants, such as physical and social environment, genetic endowment, and individual responses to these determinants.

Fellows

The Community Medicine Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center educates primary care physicians in effectively using principles of public health, epidemiology, and preventive medicine in new and innovative ways.  We are currently recruiting for one fellow for the 2013-2014 academic year. Applications are due May 31 and the tentative start date is July 1.
