The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery is seeking a cardiothoracic surgeon to provide cardiopulmonary short-term support services to our team. The position involves the evaluation and treatment of advanced cardiopulmonary failure, including the implantation of short-term cardiac assist devices. The position will also involve retrieving donor hearts and lungs, and assisting with implantation, evaluation, and treatment of those patients. The position will include participation in routine heart surgery as well. This position will participate in call schedule coverage as well as intensive care rounds and the daily management of patients including the evaluation and treatment of common diseases seen in our practice. A Texas medical license is required (including passing scores on USMLE Step 1, 2, and 3). Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in general and thoracic surgery in the United States, or foreign equivalent. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
