A distinguishing feature of the Department of Biochemistry is its dedication to the task of integrating modern research in chemistry into an institution rich in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology, physiology, cell biology, neurobiology, and clinical sciences.
As Chair of the Department of Biochemistry, my main objective is to ensure that the experience of trainees and staff, who work within the Department, be exclusively intended to enhance their professional opportunities. I further seek to recruit, retain, and—to the best of my ability—mentor the faculty who lead our research teams and teach our trainees.
