Assistant To The President
Willis C. Maddrey, M.D.

Willis C. Maddrey, M.D., serves as Assistant to the President and Professor of Internal Medicine. An internationally recognized expert in the field of liver disease, Dr. Maddrey has edited or co-edited nine books, including Transplantation of the Liver, now in its third edition, and Schiff's Diseases of the Liver, now in its 10th edition. He is a past president of the American College of Physicians and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Distinguished Service Award, and the American Gastroenterological Association Distinguished Educator Award. Dr. Maddrey, who joined the UT Southwestern Medical Center faculty in 1990, completed his M.D. and residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in liver disease at the Yale University School of Medicine.
