As a recipient of funds from the DOD, UT Southwestern must operate under a DOD-approved Facility Safety Plan. The Facility Safety Plan, written in accordance with DOD specifications, is a catch-all description (rather than an actual plan) of the UT Southwestern Safety and Environmental Protection program. The Facility Safety Plan: 1) must be prepared and submitted to the DOD at least once very five years by the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S); 2) must be accompanied by the Facility Safety Director’s Assurance; 3) must never be submitted to the DOD by Principal Investigators or designees unless arrangements have been made with EH&S to ensure proper document control; and 4) must be used by Principal Investigators as a guide coupled with: 1) EH&S safety procedures and policies; and 2) project-specific Safety Plans.
The December 2006 Facility Safety Plan, submitted in December 2006 along with the December 2006 Facility Safety Director’s Assurance, expires on December 14, 2011.
My DOD project manager asked me to provide a Facility Safety Plan and Facility Safety Director’s Assurance. Can I send her an electronic copy of our plan and assurance?
There is only one DOD office designated as the recipient of Facility Safety Plans and Facility Safety Director Assurances from all institutions seeking funding by the DOD:
